چکیده

Aims: To analyse the outcome of DALK in patients with keratoconus terms best corrected and uncorrected visual acuity, average K topographic astigmatism. Settings design: Prospective interventional case series study Material methods: 28 eyes diagnosed were evaluated from August 2009 – July 2011 a tertiary eye care hospital. All underwent outcomes assessed on 4 parameters: Average Keratometric reading, astigmatism, UCVA BCVA alongwith epidemiological analysis. Statistical analysis used: ANOVA testing Dunnett multiple comparison test. Results: We had 28patients (10 males 18 females) age group 15 to 35 years. Cases classified as moderate (4) severe (24) category. There was statistical significant decrease Topographic Astigmatism post op period which at 1, 3 6 months. (p value <0.05). From sample size, allof showed improvement acuity by more than one Snellens. No operative complications occurred. Conclusion: is safe effective treatment for keratoconus, corneal scarring contact lens intolerance.

Risk Factors for Failure of Keratoplasty in Keratoconus: Penetrating vs. Deep Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty

Purpose: To determine the etiologic factors on rejection and failure rates and ocular surface changes after corneal transplantation by either DALK or PKP, in cases of keratoconus (KCN). Methods: In this cross-sectional study, considering the existing data, patients with keratoconus referring to Labbafinejad Medical Center from 2006 to 2016, who underwent corneal transplantation, were enrolled a...

Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty in Keratoconus

Keratoconus (KC) is a progressive, bilateral, but usually asymmetrical ecstatic corneal disease, characterized by progressive corneal protrusion and thinning, that leads to corneal surface distortion. The reported incidence in the general population varies from 1.3 to 25 per 100,000 per year across different populations, with a prevalence of 8.8–229 per 100,000. Onset typically is at puberty wi...

Manual Deep Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty

Keratoplasty is considered the most successful organ transplantation procedure in the world. Reisinger was the first to use the term keratoplasty (Reisinger, 1824), when he suggested using an animal’s eye to provide donor corneal tissue for corneal transplantation in a human. In 1906, the first successful penetrating keratoplasty was performed by Edward Konrad Zirm on a patient suffering from b...
